While deployed to East Africa, Corban sought to create a unique illustration series inspired by his time in the region. Looking around the combat camera office he noticed an old box of Meal, Ready to Eat (military field meals). While digging through the box he found old instant coffee and mixed it up using the supplies in the pack.
Corban started experimenting with how the coffee took to paper and ink. After some time he came up with a series of MRE illustrations inspired by his time in uniform. He self-produced video documentation of the collection that can be viewed above.

MICRO is an ongoing ink collection that began during a deployment to East Africa. Corban received a pack of Micron pens in a care package and started inking thousands of small lines and dots to create one-of-a-kind characters and illustrations.
MICRO illustrations are a form of freestyle drawing where Corban doesn't have an end vision in mind when he begins. Each piece comes together as he progresses. This process helps Corban clear his mind during times of stress.

VINYL was a five-part series created for Gabba Galleries "Crate Digger" show in Los Angeles. The showing featured music inspired art on 12" by 12" panels to pay tribute to vinyl art.
Corban wanted to create visuals that pulled from vinyl era classic rock and mash it up with modern hip hop icons. The light hearted series was a fun way to incorporate vinyl, painting and nostalgia.
Crate Digger II, curated by Jason Ostro of Gabba Gallery took place 26 August, 2017. Part of the painting collection has been purchased but COLD Studio is open to further VINYL questions or collaborations.
